There is still time to teach in Taiwan in 2026!
HESS Education is actively recruiting for teaching positions beginning in August, September, or November of this year, from Taipei to Kaohsiung and everywhere in between.
As part of a team of teachers from Taiwan and around the world, you will plan and teach engaging and effective English lessons for young Taiwanese students. You will also grade homework and acceptance, communicate student progress to parents, and help execute special events that help students experience cultures beyond Taiwan. Our curriculum teaches every part of the English language – reading, writing, speaking, and listening – and helps students use English in natural ways.
Our teachers receive comprehensive training on TEFL best practices, education psychology, and the HESS curriculum before they begin teaching. Training and support continue throughout the first year, and our structured curriculum supports both our students and teachers.
Other benefits include:
- Guaranteed teaching hours. You’re guaranteed a minimum of 20 teaching hours per week, with most HESS teachers teaching 25-26 hours per week on average.
- Competitive teaching pay starting between 680 and 730 NTD per teaching hour depending on related education and experience, plus an additional 3,000 NTD per month for completing administrative work
- Annual contract completion bonuses and raises
- Flexible vacation time, sick leave, and extended leave from your second year
- Enrollment in Taiwan’s National Health Insurance program
- Additional training and development opportunities
Prior teaching experience is not necessary, but any sort of experience providing instruction or caring for children can be helpful. To meet Taiwanese government requirements, candidates must hold a passport from a country where English is an official language, a bachelor’s degree or higher (or an associate’s degree and TEFL certificate) from an accredited college or university, and pass a criminal background check. Our most successful candidates are team players who enjoy working with kids and are able to balance establishing routine in the classroom and enjoying the adventure of living abroad.

- Protect your data. Legitimate schools ask only for the documents required to process your hire (CV / resume, degree / certificates, passport copy for visa). Never send full bank statements, full ID numbers, or any personal information that isn’t clearly needed.
- Never pay to apply. You should never be asked to pay an “application”, “processing”, or “training-kit” fee, or to buy equipment for later reimbursement. If money is requested at any stage, treat it as a red flag.
- No salary skimming. Reputable employers pay you your full contracted salary. If a recruiter or school wants a percentage cut of your wages, walk away.
- Verify the employer. Communicate only through the contact details published in this advert or on the school’s official website / social channels. If someone approaches you from a different email, phone number, or messaging ID, confirm their identity before sharing anything.
- Report concerns. If you encounter a scam, fee request, or salary-cut scheme, please report this listing immediately so it can be investigated and removed.
