Korea Defense Language Institute (KDLI) is the language education and research arm of the Joint Forces Military University under the Ministry of National Defense. Based in Janghowon-eup, Icheon, it provides intensive foreign-language training for ROK military officers and NCOs and Korean-language programs for foreign officers assigned to Korea. Official course outlines list English and second-language tracks such as Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Indonesian, Russian and Arabic, with typical durations of 24 to 40 weeks; Korean programs run about 43 weeks. Training covers operational communication, interpretation and translation for briefings, meetings and combined exercises, plus short modules for study abroad preparation and joint operations staff work. KDLI also supports academic exchange, seminars and publications within JFMU. The institute is a government school, not a private recruiter or degree-granting university.
